The exhibition dedicated to Van Gogh will be on view inside the architectural masterpiece built by Andrea Palladio, in Palladian Basilica. Never have so many works been exhibited: 85 drawings and 40 paintings to know the life and works of Van Gogh. The exhibition is curated by Marco Goldin and is entitled “Van Gogh. Between wheat and sky”. Thanks to his past experience in Treviso, where he examined the History of Impressionism, he will retrace now more deeply the life and artistic career of the painter thanks to his works and the letters the artist sent to his brother Théo, which constitute a personal diary. Let’s visit this extraordinary journey into Van Gogh’s mind and follow his own path to peace and inner struggle.

Vincenza has lots to offer to everyone. In december 1994, Unesco declared Vicenza a World Heritage Site, unique for his architectural style. Here the best touristic attractions:

THE REAL CRADLE OF PALLADIANISM: THE OLYMPIC ACADEMY

There was a congregation of prominent personalities in Vicenza who made great our city in Italy and in the entire world.

Olympic Academy, infact, was a society of mixed social classes founded in 1555 for cultural and scientific purposes and to which Palladio himself belonged. This was deeply related to literature, maths, weapons, equitation and art in the most extended meaning. This was also a very unique class of society, because for the first time not only aristocratic people could take part. Over the years the Academy was a supporter of the innovation and progress of italian ancient beauty and nowadays still remains one the most important milestone in our cultural range.

BEST JEWEL IN VICENZA: THE OLYMPIC THEATRE

Andre Palladio’s last work and masterpiece in the Olympic Theatre. It was commissioned in February 1580 by the Accademia Olmpica, a society of mixed social classes founded in Vicenza in 1555 for cultural and scientific purposes and to which Palladio himself belonged. The theatre is unique in its style, dimensions and finishing touches: is the first world fixed theatre. It’s reached by the way of the odeon and anti-odeon where a monumental scenae frons was designed by Palladio and Vincenzo Scamozzi.

The particular enclosed space (on the sky-level) simulates classical theatre in the open air. Prospective here is the absolutely protagonist. When the poet Johann Goethe came to visit Italy, in order to write his “Italian Journey”, he said about the theatre: “there must be something absolutely divine in this work”. It’s, without any doubts, our best jewel in Italy and in the world entire.
